"Cashless" Planes from Southwest

I believe I had read about this before, but on my Southwest flight home from North Carolina this weekend I heard the flight attendant announce that all Southwest flights are now "cashless". If you want to buy a beverage on the flight you must use a credit or debit card. How is this legal? I thought that U.S. currency was "legal tender, valid for all debts public and private". Are airlines somehow immune from this law?

I was really tempted to order a drink and try to pay cash just to see what would happen, but I didn't think the wife would appreciate the unnecessary scene it would have caused. Can anyone tell me how they can legally do this?

My first CD was actually Achtung Baby. As a side note, I believe that I inadvertantly stole that one. It was purchased at the same time as my first CD player and several other appliances to be taken to college with me and the small CD got lost in the cart with all the big stuff. So I guess if you're question is what was the first CD you acquired, that's my answer. But if your question is what was the first CD you purchased then I really have no idea.
